Where is my video processed?
Everything happens right in your browser: adding the video, cropping, blurring, trimming, and exporting to any format. Nothing is ever uploaded to Drefly's servers, so your video never leaves your device.
Can I load a video from a URL?
Yes, paste a link from YouTube, X, TikTok, Facebook, or hundreds of other sites, or a direct link to a video file, then pick a quality to fetch it into the editor. Some URLs may not allow browser-based cropping if the host blocks cross-origin access - in that case, download the file first and upload it instead.
Can I trim the video while cropping it?
Yes, drag the start and end handles on the timeline to the section you want to keep, and it will be trimmed to that length as it's cropped.
Can I blur part of the video?
Yes, switch to the Blur tool and drag on the video to draw a blur box over any area you want to hide, like a face or a screen. Drag a box's corners to resize it or its middle to move it, add as many boxes as you need, and use Clear blur to remove them all at once.
What aspect ratio should I crop a video to?
Use 9:16 for Reels, TikTok, and Stories, 1:1 for a square feed post, 4:5 for a portrait feed post, and 16:9 for YouTube or widescreen playback. The crop box includes presets for all four, plus a Free option for any custom area.
What formats can I export to?
Any format in the dropdown: MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, or GIF, all rendered right in your browser. AVI and FLV are flagged slower since they take a bit longer to encode than the others.
Can I choose the export quality?
Yes, pick Original to keep the source quality, or scale down to 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, or 360p.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit from Drefly. Since cropping and exporting happen entirely on your device, the only limit is what your browser and device can handle. Very large files may take longer or, on older browsers, may not be supported.
Is Crop Video free to use?
Yes. Cropping video to any aspect ratio is completely free, with no signup and no watermark on your download.
How fast will my export be?
It depends on your file and the format you pick. Exporting to MP4 or WEBM is usually the quickest, often finishing in seconds right on your device. Exporting to MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, or GIF takes a bit longer since more work is needed, but it all still happens on your device without uploading anything.
